If you're in search of affordable loungewear made from eco-friendly fabrics, then look no further than Atelier Delphine. Southern California cool meets Japanese fabrics, for this line from Japanese born but L.A. based designer Yuka Izutsu.

We didn't have access to much entertainment in Kenya when I was growing up. There was only one nationally owned TV channel until I wasa teenager and it only airedeight hours a day from late afternoon to evening. The movie selection was a little bit betterbut tended to lean toward the action genre, particularly Bruce Lee, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren and of course James Bond. 

The minute I laid eyes on this leather bustier I knew I had to have it (it was the cutout detail in the back that did it for me). Never mind that I didn't think of myself as the type to wear bustiers or the fact that I couldn't think of an occasion where I would wear it, I just knew I needed it in my life.

What's unique about Feral Childe is that the brand's founders, Mariah Carlson and Alice Wu, are artists, not just figuratively but literally. They met back in 2002 at an art installation and connected over their love of art and fashion, making clothes for each other based on illustrations that they collaborated on.

I did ablog post a few weeks ago about the athleisure trend and because I love it so much I am back at it again. While I'm do my best not to pay attention to trends and wear things that I love, it's just nice to have the option of stylish athletic clothing now that the look has gone mainstream. 

The tiger is the largest cat species in the world. Even though they are not indigenous to Africa, they somehow remind of the continent probably because I always think of Africa when I see wildlife. This dress is simple yet elegant. I've worn it dressed down with sneakers and a denim jacket or dressed up with heels. It's an easy way to make a statement without trying too hard.

East London based Riyka is the product of husband and wife team Vedra and Rebecca Johnson. The brand produces apparel that has simple shapes but with contrasting colors, textures and geometric shapes that are reminiscent of the fun and playful culture of the 70's.

Dressing modestly hasn't always been cool but that is quickly changing thanks to trend conscious religious millennials who believe that covering up can be sexy yet modest and cool. With the rising popularity of blogs and Instagram, these Christians, Jews, Muslims, Mormons and Hindus vented their frustration about the lack of fashion choices for women like them and shared creative fashion tips on how to make lemon out of lemonade.

Color blocked apparel is the savior of anyone who struggles to put together an outfit with color. Whether it's a dress or a top, the designer has already figured out the color pairings for you, making getting dressed painless especially when it's a dress like this one.

Amour Vert means green love in French, an apt name for a brand that plants a tree for every T-shirt sold and also because the founders, Christoph Fresee and Linda Balti, met and fell in love while building the brand.

Growing up in Kenya, I never even considered wearing makeup. It wasn't that I was intellectually opposed to the idea, it just wasn't something that was part of my world. No one I knew wore makeup on a regular basis and that included my mother. All she had was a red lipstick that was worn on special occasions.

You have to love the ease of a jumpsuit, one piece and you're done, just like a dress except this time with pants. The only downside to a jumpsuit is when you have to use the bathroom so your only options are to limit liquids, or be prepared to completely undress every time to have to go.

I lovehow black and white can be so simpleyet complex. Its a timeless look that works across multiple mediums be it photography, fashion or interior design. Case in point is this photograph.

I'm not sure that I'm fond of the 'athleisure' moniker but I must admit that it does get the point across succinctly. Whatever you want to call it, I'm just glad that I can finally find fitness apparel that looks good enough to wear outside of the gym. This look is all about the leggings.

I was drawn to an article in Forbes yesterday because it tackled a topic I'd always struggled to understand: why is clothing size such a touchy subject in the western world? Perhaps it's because I grew up in Kenya where I can't recall me or anyone else I knew thinking about it, or perhaps it's because I was a die hard tomboy until my mid twenties.
