Every week we feature a sustainable brand on our blog. This week's featured brand is Organic by John Patrick.
Twenty years after launching his career in fashion, John Patrick moved from Seventh Avenue to an abandoned warehouse in Upstate New York. He wanted to answer the question of whether sustainable fashion was possible and he did so by launching Organic in 2004, his ground-breaking line of cool, contemporary, eco-conscious apparel.
John Patrick has used Organic to advance the frontiers of conscious fashion. He was one of the first designers to develop a direct relationship with organic farm collectives in Peru. He helped to innovate the use of botanical dyes, digital print techniques, recycled fabrics and organic wool yarns. John has also pushed for best practices abroad, serving the fashion community as a whole by working with his vendors to create next-generation sustainable textiles while making sure his factories adopted more environmentally sound manufacturing methods.
The brand is best known for its silk slips, organic cotton t-shirts and knit sweaters which you can purchase on their website and other retailers online.
