Every week we feature a sustainable brand on our blog. This week's featured brand is Kordal Knitwear.

As the days keep getting shorter and nights keep getting colder, there's nothing better than curling up on the sofa with a warm beverage and a cozy sweater. Enter Kordal, a knitwear brand that uses natural fibers like wool, organic cotton and alpaca to make their fair trade knitwear.

After cutting her teeth at Doo.Ri and J.Crew and discovering her love for knitwear, Mandy Kordal launched the brand three years ago with $10,000 from a Kickstarter campaign. Passionate about remaining local, she worked with a small knitwear factory in Queens, NY to produce her first line.

Mandy remains committed to being as sustainable as possible even as the brand has grown, recycling or donating left over yarn from previous seasons and designing garments that are not trend driven to eliminate overstock. Her belief in fair wages means that the brand prices may be higher average but that is the part of the trade-off of being a conscious consumer.

You can purchase Kordal Knitwear on their website or at various stockists worldwide.
