The minute I laid eyes on this leather bustier I knew I had to have it (it was the cutout detail in the back that did it for me). Never mind that I didn't think of myself as the type to wear bustiers or the fact that I couldn't think of an occasion where I would wear it, I just knew I needed it in my life.
I walked past it week after week hanging in my closet, wondering when I would finally have the courage to wear it. It wasn't until I bought the high waist J.Crew skirt months later that I felt I had finally found the perfect complement to it.
I like the the contrast between the tough bustier and the feminine skirt, hard vs. soft is a combination that always works. I paired it with a sheer red blouse that you can wear in a multitude of ways (draped over the shoulders like I have, knotted at the waist, tucked in but unbuttoned and the list goes on), and a pair of the most darling strappy sandals.
